The village with its Catalan accent and its 14th century church with its crenellated tower, its maze of narrow streets, its ramparts, its markets, its crafts, its festivals... A town first mentioned in the 9th century, a fortress linked to the Kings of Aragon and Mallorca in the 13th and 14th centuries, a village that became French in 1659.
That little extra: The beaches and port of Argelès-sur-Mer have been awarded the Blue Flag 2022, which is granted to local councils, marinas or beaches that make a decisive effort to protect the environment, particularly in terms of raising awareness, conservation, and waste and water management.
